Summary: Donna Tartt’s cult novel featuring a murderous group of Ancient Greek students seemed to divide the group down the middle. We either loved it to bits or couldn’t quite see what distinguished it from a standard thriller. The discussion brought up the interesting question of whether it's necessary to feel any sympathy with any of the characters of a book, in order to really engage with it.
